I started walking with MWAT, but had to travel as there was not a group near me, it soon became apparent to me that for a lot of guys the weekly gathering was an important occasion for them. They all had different stories and all had different reasons for walking, but one thing I also realised was the need for company. There were lots of men needing company without fear of judgement or red tape.

I then thought there’s no group in North Tyneside and now I am retired I could give something back and provide something to the area. I already have a passion for walking so an opportunity to combine my hobby with meeting new people was too good to miss
