NEW WALK STARTING THURSDAY 24th SEPTEMBER 2026
Hello, my name is Richard Johnson.
I’ve been proud to call Bognor Regis home for the past 30 years. I’m a husband, a dad to five children and a very proud grandfather. I’m also a cancer survivor, something that has given me an even greater appreciation for life and for the importance of looking after one another.
Why the walks?
There have been times in my life when I’ve found myself in some very dark places. In 1984, I lost my brother, and that was a very difficult time for me. More recently, last year, I found myself struggling again after experiencing bullying in my workplace.
I know what it can feel like when life becomes overwhelming and you don’t know where to turn.
During Covid, I became a Royal Voluntary Responder, helping vulnerable people in my community. That experience showed me just how powerful a simple act of kindness can be, sometimes knowing that someone is there really can make a difference.
That’s one of the reasons I want to start a Men Walking And Talking group in Bognor Regis.
There’s something powerful about walking alongside someone. You don’t have to sit face-to-face and find the right words. You can simply walk, talk, listen and share what’s on your mind.
These walks would be a place where men can come along exactly as they are, no judgement, no pressure and no expectations.
You don’t have to have all the answers. You don’t even have to talk if you’re not ready.
Just turn up, take a walk and know that you’re not alone.
I want to create something positive here in Bognor Regis where men can support one another, make new friendships and remind each other that even when life feels dark, there is always a way forward.
One step. One walk. One conversation at a time.
You don’t have to walk alone. 💙
