Group Leader
NEW WALK STARTING SATURDAY 14th FEBRUARY 2026
Hello my name is Jon, I am the Walk Leader for Men Walking And Talking Mirfield.
I am 63 years old and have battled with depression for most of my life, and I have tried a few different mental health groups especially over the last 10 to 15 years. I also used to run a small walk and talk group with friends for a few years but closed it down due to family illnesses and eventual deaths.
Last summer I noticed a MWAT gazebo in Huddersfield and started talking with Steve, the walk leader for Huddersfield. I attended a few walks with them and recently decided I wanted to restart a men’s walking group in Mirfield as part of MWAT.
A lot of men are isolated with the ‘chin up and don’t show your fears’ attitude because that’s the way they were raised, and they need a space to be themselves. MWAT provides an avenue to opening up and sharing with others who are going through or may have had similar problems.
So if you want to join in, come on over. It’s free, there’s no judgement, and you might make some good friends.
Our walks start from the front of Mirfield library at 10am every Saturday. See you there!
